At Grassgarth Kennels, we offer a safe, comfortable and caring home-from-home for dogs staying with us in the heart of the Lake District. Based in the peaceful Lyth Valley near Kendal, our family-run kennels have been welcoming dogs for over 30 years, giving owners confidence that their pets are in experienced and capable hands.

We understand that every dog is different, which is why we take the time to get to know each one individually. From feeding times and exercise routines to medication and sleeping habits, we follow your instructions as closely as possible so your dog can enjoy a familiar routine while they are away from home. Whether your dog is energetic and playful, older and slower paced, or simply likes things done a certain way, we do our best to make their stay as relaxed
and comfortable as possible.

Our kennels are designed with your dog’s comfort in mind. Each dog has indoor accommodation that is thermostatically heated, helping to keep them warm and cosy in all seasons, with free access to their own secure outdoor run for fresh air and space to stretch their legs. We offer kennels in a range of sizes to comfortably accommodate dogs of all breeds, from small companions to large breeds. Cleanliness, safety and comfort are always a priority, and we maintain high standards throughout the kennels to ensure every guest has a happy and secure stay.

Exercise is an important part of every dog’s stay with us, and we make sure each dog receives regular exercise suited to their age, energy levels and individual needs. For energetic dogs who enjoy being active, we make sure they have plenty of opportunity to run, play and burn off energy. Dogs enjoy plenty of exercise during their stay, with access to several secure grass paddocks, an agility park with equipment they are free to use, and woodland walks. For older dogs, or those who prefer a gentler pace, we provide appropriate exercise and quieter routines to keep them comfortable, happy and well looked after.

Dogs staying with us enjoy plenty of care, attention and one-to-one interaction from our experienced team. Our staff are trained in dog handling and pet first aid, and we are fully insured and licensed for your peace of mind. We are also experienced in caring for dogs with different temperaments and backgrounds, including rescue dogs and those who may need a little extra patience, reassurance or understanding while settling into a new environment.

We cater for all dietary needs and can administer prescribed medication where needed. If your dog has a preferred food, feeding routine, or any little comforts from home that help them settle, we are always happy to discuss this with you in advance.
Our aim is simple: to make every dog feel safe, settled and well cared for, while giving owners peace of mind that their pet is being looked after as if they were one of our own.
