Cattery at Tarnside

At Tarnside Cattery, we provide a safe, peaceful and comfortable place for cats to stay while you are away. We understand that cats can be very particular about their surroundings and routines, so we do everything we can to make their stay with us as calm, cosy and stress-free as possible.

We are proud to hold a 5 Star Animal Welfare Licence for our cattery, reflecting the high standards of care, cleanliness and accommodation we provide for every cat in our care.

Each cat has their own individual pen, with a warm indoor sleeping area and access to a secure outdoor section. As cats naturally spend a lot of time resting and sleeping, we make sure their indoor accommodation is cosy, comfortable and a relaxing place for them to settle in. When they feel like stretching their legs or enjoying some fresh air, they can move out into their outdoor area, where they can watch the world go by, enjoy a range of enrichment toys, climbing towers, and natural logs to encourage play, exploration, and relaxation.

We know that every cat is different, so we take the time to follow their usual routine as closely as possible. Whether that means sticking to familiar feeding times, administering medication, or understanding the little habits that help them feel settled, we always try to care for each cat as an individual. We cater for all dietary needs, and if your cat has a particular routine or preference, we are always happy to discuss this with you before their stay.

Our cats are cared for by experienced staff who are trained in pet first aid, and the cattery is kept completely separate from our dog boarding kennels to provide a quieter and more relaxed environment. Throughout the day, our team spend time with each cat, giving them attention, cuddles and strokes if they enjoy human company, while always respecting those cats who prefer a little more space.
