We would be delighted to welcome your pet to Grassgarth Kennels and Tarnside Cattery and help get them booked in for their stay.
We understand that leaving your pet in someone else’s care is a big decision, and we know you may have questions before making a booking. If there is anything you would like to ask, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to have a chat, talk through your pet’s needs, put your mind at ease and answer any questions you may have.
Please note that our cats and dogs are always boarded completely separately. Our canine boarders are housed well away from our feline guests so that both dogs and cats can enjoy a calm, comfortable and stress-free stay.
Vaccinations and Important Information.
For the safety and wellbeing of all animals staying with us, we require pets to be fully up to date with their vaccinations before boarding.
Dogs
All dogs must be fully up to date with their routine vaccinations, including parvovirus,
distemper, infectious canine hepatitis and leptospirosis. We also require dogs to have the
Kennel Cough vaccination before their stay. Please note that the Kennel Cough vaccine may be given as a live vaccine. If this is the case, we require a minimum of 3 weeks’ clearance between the date of vaccination and your dog’s arrival at the kennels.
Cats
All cats must also be fully up to date with their routine vaccinations before boarding with us.
Vaccination certificates for both dogs and cats must be shown on drop-off. Grassgarth
reserves the right to refuse admission and cancel the booking if valid vaccination certification is not provided.

Overnight Trial Stays
If your dog or cat is coming into the kennels or cattery for the first time, we can offer an overnight trial stay by arrangement. This can be especially helpful for nervous, shy, very young or elderly pets, as it gives them the chance to meet us, become familiar with their surroundings and settle in before a longer stay. Trial stays can be arranged to suit both you and your pet where possible. Please note overnight trials are charged at the normal boarding rate.
